Short Films

On behalf of The Toronto Mela South Asian Film Festival, we would like to request film makers and documentarians to make submissions to the festival for our consideration, to be potentially screened at Toronto Mela, our annual South Asian Summer Festival. Toronto Mela is an event hosted by CASSA with the support of the City of Toronto and many other organizations and media outlets.

The purpose of the Toronto Mela South Asian Film Festival is to showcase the talents within South Asian Canadians. This year we want to include only short films and documentaries.

If your submission is chosen to be screened, it would be during 2pm to 6pm on Sept 7th at the Scarborough Civic Centre.

Toronto Mela 2012 was a great success with over 2000 people in attendance and with performances by over 100 artists.
Please visit to see highlights from last year.

As for the criteria; we would like to see a South Asian Canadian produced/themed film with a social or economic justice message that is no longer than 25 minutes in English or with English subtitles.  It would have to be appropriate for all ages. If you would like to submit or have any more questions please reach me through email Sebaniya Josarasa, Toronto Mela Film Festival Organizer at or at 416 932 1359 X10
